The Casper Pumpkin

20140930-213451.jpg

Have you seen them?! Those pale pumpkins?? I adore them. So long orange or yester year… Hello light and lovely!

I picked up a large Casper Pumpkin at my local Lowes this week. It was $4.49 which I thought was a great price. I found out from a friend that Walmart has them also for $2.89. I will be making a trip this week to check them out!

Personally, I think the white pumpkin can match any decor. They would look great on a mantle, on stairs inside or out, in urns and even on chairs.

Happy Shopping!

Good day!

Today the short lists were released for the Record Reader’s Awards. I made it! 🙂 Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote. I appreciate it.

I am going to ask you one last time to log in and vote for me. It would be great to win an award.

I have to admit it is a tad harder this time around as you have to log in to vote. I realize it is a pain but I would appreciate your time. Thank you in advance!

Bathroom Bliss

20140913-111706.jpg

Well, almost bathroom bliss.
Here is the reveal on the kids bathroom.
There are still a few minor touch ups to complete but it is nearly done.
When all the touch ups are out of the way I will take more pictures as well as show the before. I will also attach a wee price break down for those considering a bathroom reno in the future.
The kids voted on the grey and yellow color scheme and I have to say I think they made a wise decision. Their options were grey & purple, grey & black, grey and red, then of course grey and yellow.
It is like a little peak of sunshine on a cloudy day.

Little Free Library

20140910-222534.jpg

I am not sure if you have seen one of these yet but they are popping up in various neighborhoods around the tri cities.

People are building these cute little library boxes and mounting them on posts on the corner of their lawns. It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share.

If you are wondering how this all began here is a small clip from the Little Free Library site.
“In the beginning—2009–Todd Bol of Hudson, Wisconsin, built a model of a one room schoolhouse as a tribute to his mother, a former school teacher who loved reading. He filled it with books and put it on a post in his front yard. His neighbors and friends loved it. He built several more and gave them away. Each one had a sign that said FREE BOOKS.”

Now there are many thousands of these little boxes all around the world. Check out littlefreelibrary.org for more information.

Lockers for the Loot

20140905-083838.jpg

One thing I am constantly doing is trying to find the best way to keep three kids “stuff” organized in our garage. I have hooks and I have cubbies but there is something nice about having doors that close.

My hubby recently purchased a bank of lockers. The ones shown above. The folks inside did not come with them! (lol) They are demonstrating how roomy the lockers are.

The lockers are now in place in the garage and the kids happily put all their spring/fall coats and athletic shoes in them. I am also attempting to have them store their backpack at night in them. In a week or so I will send out a picture of what they look like in our garage. One more project on the go!
